How much do you charge?
Okay, how much for the materials? Is there a cost savings for block time? What is the recording format? What Mics do you use? What instruments are available? What kind of notice is required? Are there any limitations? How much do you charge? $40 per hour for all activities unless otherwise negotiated. This price does not not including materials such as the Master HD, DATs, CD's, etc. Back to Top Okay, how much for the materials? The Master Hard Disk and carriage is $100 (unless you provide your owne HD, then it's $30 for the carriage) DAT’s are $30 Rough mix CD's are free (one only, copies are $1 each) Master CD's are $5 each (not including mix-down time or white face graphics) White face CD’s with basic graphics are $10 each Cassettes (if you still use such things) are $1 a piece (no graphics) Water is free Back to Top Is there a cost savings for block time? Yes, if you book 32 hours or more at a time (i.e four 8 hour days), the cost is reduced to $35/hr Back to Top What is the recording format? We record to an ADAT 24 HD stand alone recorder which is sync'd to a high-end P4 computer for midi interface when needed. The operation is setup with an old school configuration incorporating new school technology. This means we can set up an entire band fully mic'd and just let em go. Then if need be, midi synth can be added in sync with the actual instruments. We utilize a Masterlink (master mix to mastering a Redbook CD creation), Sony DAT and CD recorders for Post Production. Also on board are 6 Pre-Sonus compressors and 2 outboard Alesis reverbs. The Behringer DDX digital mixing board is fully equipped with standard DAW technology while the Mackie 24-8 Buss analog board captures all initial recording. We have 5 condenser mics, 12 Shure 57s and 2 58s. This does not list everything but it begins to show our budgeted capabilities. Back to Top What Mics do you use? Our Main vocal mic is a Rode NT2 along with Shure 58's for scratch vocals and backups. We use Shure 57's for non-condenser mic'ing and Rode NT5's for over heads and stereo acoustic mic'ing. Various other mic's are available such as the Shure 52a bass drum mic or condenser mic's for high end instrument recording. Back to Top What instruments are available? There is a set of Yamaha drums, Godin Nylon electric guitar (Roland synth ready), Guild & Washburn 12 or 6 string acoustics, a Yamaha P90 electric piano and various percussion instruments. We have other keyboards and guitars but most recording artist prefer their own gear. Back to Top What kind of notice is required? To book sessions, just call or email for open dates. For cancelations, you must call at least 24 hours before hand. Back to Top Are there any limitations? There is no smoking allowed in the studio. However, smoking is allowed outside. Food and soft drinks are allowed as long as you clean up behind yourself. A fridge is provided for keeping things cool (except for hot heads, not much can be done about that). A Liability contract is required to be signed for insurance purposes and mutual protection. Back to Top |
